When did you start blogging?
I set up a blog back in October of 2015 but i didn’t actually post anything until December because i was so scared of what everyone would think! It first started out as a tumblr blog; then i moved everything over to blogger one month after starting out, because i knew it was something i wanted to take more seriously.
Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because i was bored haha! I had just started my gap year and i was in full time employment with days off that didn’t involve homework, suddenly i had a lot more free time. I had always wanted to start a blog or youtube channel but i didn’t have the confidence or time to do it; i took the opportunity to post a tweet about makeup on twitter and it got a really good reaction, so i went from there!
If you knew one thing to help you out when you started your blog, what do you wish it was?
Don’t take photos at night time! I used to get so excited when i would buy a new product that i couldn’t wait to photograph it; it would mean i would end up with really badly lit photos because i would usually take them in the evening after a day out shopping.
What beauty item can you not live without?
Foundation! Without Estee Lauder double wear i’d be lost, but to be honest i’m thinking about it now and narrowing it down to one is impossible – i never want to live in that world!
Favourite high end and drugstore brand?
Oh god, i’m terrible at narrowing things down especially when i have so many beauty favourites. If i had to narrow it down to one high end brand i think it would be Estee Lauder because they make my favourite foundation and the remover to go with it. From the drugstore i think it would have to be either NYX or Sleek, i feel like they make the most innovative products at a cheap price point .. or Barry M ..this is too hard.
You started YouTubing recently, are you finding it harder than you originally thought? Are you enjoying it?
I did! Its so much harder than i thought, if anyone wants to imagine how hard it is times your expectation by 10 and then you come close. While it is hard its so so much fun, i had no idea how much of a interest i’d develop in video editing and graphic styles with my thumbnails. Its also so rewarding too, i’m really loving doing it and I’m so happy i started!
Who is your blogging inspiration?
oo thats a tough one, i’m inspired by everyone around me daily through twitter and instagram but i think one big blogger i love is Victoria from InTheFrow. The thing that stands out to me about her is that she’s manages to focus on both her blog and youtube channel at the same time, i see a lot of big youtubers who have a blog for the sake of having a blog but you can tell she really really puts effort into all of her content. Also she really makes an effort to check her comments and twitter mentions, which is amazing for someone who has such a large following.
What are your blogging tips and advice?
I actually did a whole post on this so check out my blogger help tab for that (cheeky self promo), but the main thing i’d say is don’t upload anything you don’t really love – if you’re not feeling completely motivated don’t try and produce content because it just won’t turn out right. Also download buffer to tweet links throughout the day and… download google analytics (you’ll see why when you download it).
